Tax Office

Mrs. Muchnok is certified by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania as a Qualified Tax Collector and maintains her certification by accumulating continuing education credits annually through the Commonwealth's Tax Collector Accreditation conferences. Her office is responsible for the collection of Real Estate Tax (aka "Property Tax") on behalf of Butler County, Middlesex Township, and Middlesex Township properties in the Mars Area School District.

Payment Notices

Butler County and Middlesex Township real estate tax payment notices are distributed the 1st of March every year.

Mars Area School District real estate tax payment notices are distributed the 1st of August every year.

The tax payment notice indicates the dates when tax payments can be completed at discount, face value or penalty.

Tax Certification Request Letters

All tax certification request letters must be accompanied by payment in the amount of $25 made payable to, "Middlesex Township, Tax Certs". Add $5.00 for rushed requests.

Duplicate Receipt or Duplicate Bill fee is also charged at $5.00 per parcel per request.  Checks are to be made payable to "Middlesex Township, Tax Certs."

Tax Payments

You are required to notify the Tax Collector immediately if your mortgage company has changed or you no longer have an escrow account established through your mortgage company for the payment of Real Estate Taxes and need to be billed directly.

Taxes not paid by December 31st of each year are turned over to the Butler County Tax Claim Bureau where further penalties will be added to the tax payment due. Currently, the bureau charges an administrative collection fee of $45 plus all interest accrued on the unpaid tax payment.

Payment is accepted by personal check or cash until December 15, 2022. No personal checks are accepted after December 15.

Credit card payments and E-CHECK payments are now available for county/township taxes! Please click the link below.  NOTE: THERE IS A FEE FOR SELECTING TO PAY BY CREDIT/DEBIT OR E-CHECK! At this time, you cannot pay your school tax online.
