Central Tax Bureau of PA, Inc. (“Centax”) collects Act 511 Taxes for Middlesex Township.  Taxes that are collected include:

Earned Income Tax (if you live in Middlesex Township) RATE: 1% (0.5% to Middlesex, 0.5% to Mars Area School District)

Levied on the wages, salaries, commissions, net profits or other compensation of person subject to the jurisdiction of the township, paid quarterly.

Local Services Tax (if you work in Middlesex Township) RATE: $52.00 per year

Levied on individuals for the privilege of engaging in an occupation within the Township.  Payable in one lump sum.

Middlesex Township requires that all earned Income Tax payments be completed quarterly.  Earned Income Tax Payments should be reconciled by April 15th of each year.

Centax does offer office hours at the Middlesex Township Municipal Building (for all residents of the Mars Area School District).  Office hours are offered the fourth Tuesday of each month, between 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.  No appointments are necessary.

Real Estate and Income (Wage) Tax Information

Mrs. Roth is Certified by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania as a Qualified Tax Collector and maintains her Certification by accumulating continuing education credits annually through the Commonwealth’s tax Collector Accreditation conferences.  Her office is responsible for the collection of Real Estate Tax (aka “Property Tax”) on behalf of Butler County, Middlesex Township, and Middlesex Township properties in the Mars Area School District.

 

Butler County and Middlesex Township Real Estate Tax Payment Notices are distributed the 1st of March every year.

 

Mars Area School District Real Estate Tax Payment Notices are distributed the 1st of August every year.

 

The Tax Payment Notice indicates the dates when tax payments can be completed at discount, face value or penalty.

 

All Tax Certification Request letters must be accompanied by payment in the amount of $15.00.  If the Certification Request needs to be expedited, the fee is $20.00.

 

You are required to notify the Tax Collector IMMEDIATELY if your mortgage company has changed or you no longer have an escrow account established through your mortgage company for the payment of Real Estate Taxes and need to be billed directly.

 

Taxes not paid by December 31st of each year are turned over to the Butler County Tax Claim Bureau where further penalties will be added to the Tax Payment due.  Currently, the Bureau charges an Administrative Collection Fee of $45.00 plus all interest accrued on the unpaid Tax Payment.
